Flowers white, 6-8 cm across, solitary or 2-3 axillary, with 11-15 petals. Similar to -C.taliensis- except that the leaves and flowers are larger. Distribution: Yunnan, Guizhou Provinces, China.

Subgenus Metacamellia; Section Theopsis; Series Cuspidatae. A much branched shrub about 1 m tall. Leaves ovate to elliptic-ovate, apex obtuse, 1.2-2.4 cm long x 6-13 mm wide. Flowers pedicellate, not seen. Stem clad in long, spreading. villose hairs making this species unique in the Camellia genus. Distribution: Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, China.

Subgenus Camellia; Section Camellia; Subsection Reticulata; Series Reticulatae. A tree to 15 m tall with coriaceous, elliptic leaves, 11-13 cm long. Flowers terminal, sessile, red. Seed capsule large, 12-15 cm in diameter. Distribution: Jiangxi Province, China.

Subgenus Metacamellia; Section Eriandria. A small tree to 4 m tall. Leaves coriaceous, narrowly oblong-lanceolate, 5.5-8 cm long x 1.5-2 cm wide with caudate apices. Flowers, axillary, terminal, pedicellate, white with 5 petals. Differs from C. caudata and C. cratera by having long cylindrical fruit with three ridges. Distribution: Guangdong and Hunan Provinces, China.

Subgenus Metacamellia; Section Theopsis; Series Gymnandrae. A shrub 1-5 m tall. Leaves oblong or lanceolate-oblong or oblong-elliptic, tapering to a caudate apex, 5-9.5 cm long x 1.3-2.9 cm wide, margins wavy. Flowers pedicellate, 1.6-1.8 cm across, white with 5 petals. Distribution: Yunnan Province, China, Burma and North Vietnam.

Subgenus Metacamellia; Section Theopsis; Series Gymnandrae. The difference between this variety and the type is that young shoots are thicker, and leaves thick and shiny. Flower basically the same except that back of bracts are glabrous. Distribution: Yunnan and Hunan Provinces, China.

Flower pedicellate, 1.8 cm across, white, or reddish outside at first, with 5 petals. Distribution: Sichuan, Hunan and Jianxi provinces, China.

Subgenus Camellia; Section Paracamellia. A shrub to 3 m tall. Leaves elliptic to broad elliptic, 6-9 m long x 3-4 cm wide, yellow-green, dull. Flowers white, 5-7 cm across with 5-7 petals. The shape of the flowers and leaves are the same as for C. grijsii but are larger. Clones with strong fragrance are known. Chang classifies this species as a synonym for C. grijsii but because of its larger flowers and leaves and fragrance, it is treated separately here. Distribution: Hunnan Province, China.
