'Dr. Dan Nathan' (ACS Reg. No. 1732). This is a very large, deep red, semidouble hybrid of C. reticulata 'Crimson Robe' x C. lutchuensis; it blooms mid-season to late. It was originated by Frank Pursel, Oakland, California and is being propagated by Ray Gentry's Nursery, Jackson, Mississippi. To be released in the fall of 1982. 'Rebecca Richardson' (ACS Reg. No. 1500). A chance Camellia 'Donation' x C. japonica hybrid seedling of Ferol and Sam Zerkovsky of Slidell, Louisiana. An unusually fine outdoor camellia, long lasting, blooms from December through March with abundant flowers. A medium semi-double in beautiful solid pink, also variegated, with bright yellow stamens. Up- right vigorous grower. Over 36 large flower petals with dark green foliage. Propagated by Tammia Nursery. (Separations courtesy of Tammia Nursery) ...13

'Bill Johnston' (ACS Reg. 1774). A C. reticulata hybrid of 'Tali Queen' x 'Buddha' that first bloomed in 1978. Its average size is 7" to 8" in diameter and about 4" to 41/2" in depth, with 12-19 petals and 5-7 rabbit ears. Anthers and filaments are white. It was originated by Dr. Walter F. Camellia japonica 'John Harvard', described in the official nomen- clature book of the American Camellia Society as: "Purple red. Small, rose-form double." The plant shown in this photograph is one of the largest and oldest camellias living in an outdoor garden and is perhaps the only extant specimen of 'John Harvard.'
