Camellia of the Month
Photo: Elva Harwood, N.Z.
ICS Vice-President Elva Harwood sent us a photo of the spectacular Camellia japonica 'Diva',
grown and registered by New Zealand hybridiser Neville Haydon in 1999.
As described in the "International Camellia Register", 'Diva' has semidouble
flowers that are rather open in form, 11 cm diameter x 5 cm deep, with 30-35
raised, slightly fluted petals. The flowers are an unusually deep rich
red, with darker red veining. Theplant flowers mid-season to late. Send the
ICS website a photo of one of your favourite camellias for our "Camellia of the
month" display. Tell us a little bit about it -- where it originated and when,
and why you like it! | |
